California Department of Health: Do More, Watch Less

5/5/2014 By:

May 5-11 is Screen Free Week. Help children understand the consequences of too much sitting and give them options to “do” instead of “be.”
This project
that focuses on getting kids moving and away from the television or computer screen is broken down into four sessions, the first of which has students track their screen time for up to seven days. There are forms for the students to use and letters for parents to explain the goals of the project. The next session asks students to give up their screen time for a week. Included in that section are suggestions of lots of activities to do instead of watching television.
