Drop Everything, and Read!

4/11/2014 By:

Tomorrow is National Drop Everything, and Read Day. This lesson plan from ReadWriteThink shows how to make DEAR day occur often in your classroom. Having students choose what they would like to read provides a lot of ownership and self-created interest in discovering the lure of books. This plan provides a series of questions for reading logs which encourage students to be accountable for their reading. It also gives ideas of how to use volunteers in the classroom to assist in having book chats with the students. Make every day a DEAR day.
