9/9/2013 By:

At first blush, this seems like it might be just a straightforward look at the advent and continuation of airmail in the United States, but once you start opening the various sections, you will be spending a lot of time reading stories from pilots who delivered airmail, and looking at the many different kinds of planes used over the years to carry the mail. Find out how the Post Office Department embraced airmail as a government operation. There are also collections of stamps, maps, photographs, and posters that promoted the use of airmail. The interactive timeline follows the history of airmail from its inception until 1975. The flight school section puts you in the pilot’s seat to see how you would do delivering the mail.
