Jewish Heritage Month

5/2/2014 By:

May is both Jewish American Heritage Month and Preservation Month. Use this site from the National Park Service for both celebrations. The properties highlighted show an appreciation for the contributions of Jewish Americans; they are also on the National Register of Historic Places, which helps preserve them as valuable assets of America’s past. Find a link filled with information about the St. Thomas Synagogue, the second oldest synagogue in the United States. You’ll also find out about the house of Louis Brandeis, the first Jewish Supreme Court justice. In addition to seeing his Cape Cod home, you’ll read about his life as a lawyer and judge. Many other buildings on the National Register are featured.
