Talking With Our Hands

Nonverbal communication happens all the time and with this lesson, your students will develop observation skills that will help them interpret this kind of communication and use it to convey messages themselves. Plan a field trip for your students, just around the school, and have them observe examples of nonverbal communication. Can they convey the meaning of the communication they see in their own nonverbal style? The lesson suggests ways for this to be accomplished. After this initial awareness is sparked, it is an invitation to do research on nonverbal communication of different cultures.
