Take a look at this treasure trove of hand-outs from the University of North Carolina’s writing center. The four major topics addressed are writing the paper,  style and sentence structure, specific kinds of writing, and writing for particular fields of study. These hand-outs are very detailed and an excellent resource for upper level high school students, but the information can be simplified for middle school students as well. Be sure to look at the Should I Use ‘I’? hand-out.
