Ten passionate educators who teach dyslexic students are attending the IDA’s 64th Annual Conference in New Orleans this week as recipients of the 2013 Robert G. and Eleanor T. Hall Memorial Scholarships, sponsored by EPS Literacy and Intervention, a division of School Specialty. Created to honor the founder of EPS and his wife, Eleanor T. Hall, these scholarships reward exemplary educators for the innovative instructional strategies they use to help their dyslexic students achieve at the highest levels.

SONOMA, Calif.  (Nov. 11, 2013)— According to the U.S. Department of Education, the number of English learners enrolled in K-12 schools has increased by over 50 percent in the last decade.  Educators responsible for teaching these students know that simply exposing English language learners (ELL) to the English language is not enough for academic success.  Instructional strategies that facilitate instruction and assessment need to be based on comprehension of content through meaningful activities and assignments. In recognition of America Recycles Day, November 15, FundingFactory is sponsoring the “Care2Collect Just 1” campaign to help schools, nonprofits and businesses in protecting the environment while supporting their local communities. Participants are encouraged to recycle one e-waste item through FundingFactory, and donate one non-perishable food item to their local food bank.  For every 100 recyclable items collected, FundingFactory will donate $1 to Second Harvest Food Bank with the goal of raising more than $3,000. Additionally, the free recycling fundraiser aims to raise awareness for America Recycles Day by collecting and recycling more than 300,000 recyclables by the end of November.
