New Student and Teacher Subscriptions Previewed at ISTE 2012
SAN DIEGO – June 25, 2012 – Imagine classroom technology that bridges the digital divide and creates paperless K-12 classrooms. TCI has created a complete learning system for K-12 social studies that is robust enough for tech-savvy teachers, yet intuitive and easy for technophobes.
Today at ISTE 2012, TCI, a K-12 publishing company created by teachers for teachers, unveiled new versions of its teacher and student subscriptions – fully optimized for teaching online – that allow teachers to meet Common Core Standards while engaging students in meaningful social studies instruction. Teachers can now share files with students, publish online assessments and message students.
“Welcome to the paperless classroom,” said Bert Bower, TCI founder and CEO. “Teachers have been asking us for the ability to share files with students, and we’ve made it so easy. I think teachers will also love the messaging feature that allows them to send messages to classes without cluttering up email inboxes – it’s all built into the subscriptions.”
Continuing, Bower said, “We’ve also been hard at work on our student subscriptions. We’ve redesigned them and added a wealth of new features including a Digital Interactive Student Notebook, glossary, maps and bookmarking.”
TCI’s Student Subscriptions are hardware-agnostic and work seamlessly on Macs, PCs, iPads and other mobile devices. Students can start their work on one device and finish on another. Student work, such as Common Core Activities, Reading Challenges and online assessments, is saved on any platform (eliminating “dog ate my homework” excuses).
TCI’s online Student Text features text-to-audio, online vocabulary, rich images, and English or Spanish text. Plus, the TCI Student Text and handouts are available in Spanish, and the text can be read to the students in Spanish using the text-to-audio feature. The program’s dynamic and easy-to-use social media tools allow students to travel beyond the walls of the classroom.
Schools and districts with current TCI subscriptions will be upgraded automatically to the new version and will be able to access the Digital Interactive Notebook free until June 30, 2013.
