Ed-Tech Industry Honors Interactive, Innovative K-12 Program as Best Social Sciences Instructional Solution
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – May 9, 2012 – TCI’s online social studies program is the winner of the Software & Information Industry Association’s (SIIA) 2012 CODiE Award for Best Social Sciences Instructional Solution. This annual awards program showcases excellence across the education-technology, business software and digital content industries.
An SIIA CODiE Award win for ed-tech companies is an especially prestigious honor. Each award winner is selected both by educators, who act as initial judges by selecting finalists from among all nominees, and SIIA members/company peers, who vote to select the winners from among the finalists.
“TCI has long been recognized by teachers and students alike for its innovative, interactive K-12 social studies programs. Now winning a CODiE adds technological luster to what we’ve been doing for 23 years: truly making learning come alive for all students,” said Bert Bower, TCI founder and CEO. “We believe we’ve found ways to help teachers use technology to increase interaction in the classroom, not just between students and computers, but more importantly, between students and their fellow classmates and teachers.”
TCI, a social studies curriculum that brings learning alive for students through interactive experiences, is fully optimized for teaching online, allowing teachers to immerse students in social studies lessons using today’s broad spectrum of technology. TCI develops its programs based on the belief that the best education marries great content, meaningful technology and interactive experiences. The end result: students of all abilities and learning styles succeed.

About SIIA’s CODiE Awards
The CODiE Awards, originally called the Excellence in Software Awards, were established in 1986 by the Software Publishers Association (SPA), now SIIA, so pioneers of the then-nascent software industry could evaluate and honor each other’s work. Since then, the CODiE Awards program has carried out the same purpose – to showcase the software and information industry’s finest products and services and to honor excellence in corporate achievement.
