Atomic Learning Provides Critical Technology Integration Training to Support McAllen ISD Mobile Initiative

2/6/2013 12:00:00 AM LITTLE FALLS, Minn. (Feb. 6, 2013) — To assist in the successful distribution and usage of more than 22,000 mobile devices, McAllen Intermediate School District (ISD) in Texas has utilized Atomic Learning resources to effectively train its educators and students on using the technology. A challenge-based learning initiative, Transforming Learning in the Classroom, Campus and Community (TLC3) empowers McAllen students to leverage the latest technologies and learn critical 21st-century skills.

“Atomic Learning is a key partner in our dedication to providing our teachers the highest quality technology training resources available and supporting our students with anytime, anywhere learning,” said Carmen Garcia, director of instructional technology at McAllen ISD.

Through TLC3, McAllen has already distributed more than 6,000 iPads in 14 of its 32 campuses with plans to provide its 25,000 students and teachers district-wide with mobile devices in the 2012-13 school year. McAllen’s subscription to Atomic Learning provides educators with 50,000 step-by-step technology tutorials that propel classroom instruction forward, including project-based training on 21st-century concepts, tech integration projects, tech skills assessments, and workshops on trending tech topics.

To share details of her district’s mobile learning success, Garcia will speak at the Texas Computer Education Association 2013 Convention in Austin, Texas. The workshop begins at 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 6 in Room 18C of the Convention.

TCEA attendees will also find interest in the “Aligning Technology & Curriculum through Online Professional Development” session on Feb. 6 at 1:15 p.m. in Room 1. The session will detail how districts like McAllen are using Atomic Learning online training solutions to implement mobile initiatives and promote tech integration in thousands of classrooms worldwide.

Conference attendees are invited to visit Booth No. 1635 to learn more about Atomic Learning training solutions. For more information on the 2013 TCEA Convention, visit http://www.tceaconvention.org/.
