RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. – May 15, 2012 – Today Pearson (NYSE:PSO) announced that Pascagoula School District, MS, selected Pearson’s PowerSchool as its new web-based student information system (SIS) and Schoolnet as its new Instructional Management Suite (IMS). This combination of Pearson products will serve Pascagoula’s more than 7,000 students.
“Pascagoula School District chose PowerSchool and Schoolnet for many reasons, but primarily because they will let us achieve our vision for a unified and comprehensive student information and academic management system. None of the competitors had the combined capabilities that PowerSchool and Schoolnet offered our district,” said Dr. Douglas Belk, Pascagoula IT director. “We’re looking forward to a system that allows for a unified login and more modern and appealing features for teachers, students, parents, and administrators, all while providing easy access to reports and results that let us make data-driven decisions.”
PowerSchool and Schoolnet will serve as the technology backbone for Pascagoula School District, with PowerSchool managing all student information, such as grades, attendance, schedules, transcripts, medical and disciplinary history, Mississippi State Reporting, and more. Through a robust set of instructional improvement tools, Schoolnet will provide educators with curriculum, instruction, assessment, and reporting tools - effectively creating the comprehensive technology solution the district needs to make substantial efficiencies and improvements in student performance. Both systems are integrated with single sign-on and data sharing to simplify the end user experience.
“We share in Pascagoula School District’s goal that the information provided by a new, integrated SIS and IMS solution will positively impact student performance and district reporting processes,” said Mark Chernis, chief operating officer of the K-12 Technology group of Pearson. “Pearson provided the right all-in-one solution with PowerSchool and Schoolnet. With a robust feature set and ability to scale, the unified PowerSchool and Schoolnet systems will meet the district’s long-term informational and real-time communication needs.”
Pascagoula School District expects to complete the implementation of PowerSchool in July, 2012, and Schoolnet later in the summer.
