ALEKS Adds Custom Reporting Feature to Its Assessment and Learning System

Custom Reporting Makes ALEKS an Even More Powerful Tool for Individualizing Learning

SAN ANTONIO – June 24, 2013 – Today at ISTE 2013, ALEKS Corporation, a leading provider of mastery-based learning and assessment solutions, announced the addition of a new Custom Reporting feature to its online courses. This new feature will allow K-12, college, and university instructors and administrators to tap into the vast wealth of ALEKS data to develop customized Excel reports at the district, school, instructor, class, or multi-class level. This new update makes ALEKS an even more powerful tool for individualizing learning and data-driven instruction.

ALEKS is a web-based, artificially intelligent assessment and learning system that uses adaptive questioning to quickly and accurately determine exactly what students know and don’t know in a course. ALEKS then instructs individual students on the topics they are most ready to learn. As students work through a course, ALEKS periodically reassesses their knowledge to ensure that topics learned are also retained.

The ALEKS AI continually measures and analyzes individual student learning rates and patterns, providing educators with valuable data that helps them make effective decisions on how to improve student learning outcomes. Now with ALEKS Custom Reporting, instructors and administrators can easily generate data regarding the metrics they care most about. They can also conveniently schedule these reports to run at desired intervals. For example, in a K-12 environment, a principal can create a custom report that details student progress and time on task for all classes using ALEKS at the school, and have it run monthly throughout the academic year. Additionally, instructors who teach multiple sections of a course can now run reports that allow them to view mastery per student across all sections, enhancing their ability to effectively direct instruction.

This new Custom Reporting feature provides ALEKS instructors and administrators with a powerful tool designed to help them gather, evaluate, and compare data to support instructional decision-making. For added convenience, custom reports can be scheduled to run once or on a recurring schedule, such as weekly, saving valuable time and resources.

“In today’s learning environment, data plays a pivotal role in helping instructors and administrators personalize learning for students and make optimal instructional decisions for their schools, districts, colleges, and universities,” said Wil Lampros, president of ALEKS. "ALEKS has always provided a wealth of actionable, formative data on student progress. Now the Custom Reports feature allows educators to quickly and easily view the information that best supports their specific needs and implementations."
