Portland, Ore. (June 24, 2013) – Classrooms are increasingly moving toward project-based teaching methods to help students develop critical thinking, problem solving and other 21st century skills. Learning.com, the celebrated source for connecting educators and students to the right digital curriculum, introduces Inquiry, a project-based approach to integrating technology into core instruction.
Specifically developed for K-8 students and created to support Common Core State Standards, Inquiry includes six core curriculum projects per grade level. Each project is based on a theme that continues from grade to grade, building on previously acquired subject-area knowledge and technology skills.
“More educators are turning to project-based learning and at the same time are looking to build their students 21st century skills,” said Learning.com CEO Keith Oelrich. “Inquiry brings these trends together by providing a project-based approach to integrating technology into core curriculum instruction through grade-level appropriate projects.”
A turnkey solution for districts, Inquiry provides ready-to-use projects with pre-tests to identify digital literacy strengths or areas for additional instruction. Next, the students receive interactive, self-paced lessons based on the pre-test results. Students complete the projects by conducting research, creating digital media and giving peer presentations. A final self-analysis helps each student reflect on what he or she has learned. Teachers can track individual progress throughout the project and record final work in a comprehensive online grade book.
“Our goal is to provide educators with solutions that inspire exceptional teaching and learning,” said Oelrich. “Inquiry embodies this mission by providing a project-based approach to teaching 21st century skills and preparing students for success in today’s digital world.”
