CYBERBULLY HOTLINE ESTABLISHES $100,000 GRANT PROGRAM FOR K-12 SCHOOLS TO SUPPORT BULLY INTERVENTION AND RESPONSE EFFORTS

7/17/2012 12:00:00 AM

St. Louis, MO – July 17, 2012 – The CyberBully Hotline from SchoolReach announced today the establishment of the CyberBully Hotline grant program. This newly created program for K-12 schools and districts will award $100,000 in grants to support the implementation of an anonymous bullying reporting solution to help schools reduce and prevent bullying and cyber bullying episodes.

The CyberBully Hotline solution provides a two-way communications tool that allows students to instantly and directly send text messages -- or leave a voicemail -- anonymously with school officials. In response, those officials can immediately reply, also anonymously, and provide students the support they need to effectively address the offensive bullying act, whether they are witnessing it, or on the receiving end of it.

“With child and teen bullying at all-time highs, schools are being required to implement protocols to curb bullying and online harassment of students to ensure that every child feels safe at school,” said Paul Langhorst, chief marketing officer at SchoolReach. “Yet many schools lack the funding to offer effective anti-bullying programs to address this epidemic problem. Our hope is that these grant dollars will make it more cost-effective and easier to do just that.”

Entries for the CyberBully Hotline grant must come from districts or schools that have a high (31-50 percent) or very high (50 percent+) Free and Reduced Lunch rating. Grant applications, available online at the CyberBully Hotline Web site at http://www.cyberbullyhotline.com/grant-program.html, must be submitted by October 31, 2012. Grants will be reviewed as the award committee receives them, and awarded until funds are exhausted. The maximum award per participant is $2,500 and the grant funds cover a 12-month service period starting from the date of service agreement signing. All terms and conditions of the grant program can be found at CyberBully Hotline grant program website.

About the CyberBully Hotline

Designed to supply schools and districts with everything needed to introduce and manage an anonymous bullying reporting program, the turn-key platform includes:

A special, unique telephone number per-building that accepts both text messages and voice calls anonymously, and access to the CyberBully Hotline online management center for viewing and replying to messages.

ü Visually compelling and influential anti-bullying materials and resources that not only create awareness of the school’s own unique telephone number, but also reinforce the “Bullying is Wrong” message that is vitally important to keep top-of-mind with all students.

ü A wallet card for each student containing the CyberBully hotline number.

ü An introduction letter for parents and links to parent-pages on the CyberBully Hotline website.

ü Access for district officials to the CyberBully Hotline Resource Center, which offers a wealth of information on report response best practices, and ongoing professional development materials.
