–Boxlight Corporation (Nasdaq: BOXL), a leading provider of interactive technology solutions for the global education market, today announced that its interactive touch technology offering, MimioSpace, was named as a Best of Show winner by Tech & Learningat the 2018 International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Conference and Expo.

A panel of professional users and editors scoured the exhibit hall during the annual conference and selected this year’s winners based on their potential of having the greatest impact in the classroom.

The MimioSpace collaborative system, consisting of a laser projector, touch board, and Mini-PC, create an expansive 32-touch area with Touch 360° interactivity. Students work together in an area almost 11 ft wide and over 4 ft. tall, making collaborative learning at the front of the classroom a reality. Because it doubles as a dry erase surface, the ultra-wide touch board is able to completely replace a traditional whiteboard. Additionally, the MimioSpace system comes equipped with the dynamic MimioStudio software and three MimioMobile app connections, which together enable full-classroom collaboration and assessment using almost any device.

“Educators looking for ways to have students engage with lessons, videos, web pages, and class objectives all at the same time in an interactive, ultra-wide collaborative space need to look no further than MimioSpace,” said Mark Elliott, CEO of Boxlight. “We’re honored to have been selected as one of the best products evaluated at this year’s ISTE conference.”

About Boxlight Corporation: Boxlight Corporation (Nasdaq: BOXL) (“Boxlight”) is a leading provider of technology solutions for the global learning market. The company aims to improve learning and engagement in classrooms and to help educators enhance student outcomes, by developing the products they need. Visits to the UK’s Show in January and the Texas Computer Education Association exhibition in February gave me the chance to traipse the show floors and listen in on sessions that focused on the latest and greatest in emerging innovations for the classroom. I was not disappointed. There are hundreds of emerging companies looking to provide services—from robotics that complement STEM curricula to apps that improve study habits.

One major advancement: touch technologies have become mature and cheap enough to be a real thing in the education space. Many of the major hardware manufacturers are in the midst of research to explore the idea that students learn better when they record notes with a stylus versus typing on keyboards. There also seems to be an emerging class of education software that complements devices that use touch. Finally, the technology is at a price point that school budgets will handle.

Contributing editor Tara Smith details how schools are applying touch-enabled tech to advance their science curricula. She hits on the strategy of making the technology invisible, which touch tech enables: “We’re working to make the technology work in ways that those outside of the classroom use it,” one teacher says. Using iPads and Vernier probeware out in the field does just that.

As always, we are looking for similar real-world examples of how edtech is changing the way you teach and your students learn.
