Where can I find information about current national trends in educational technology? It would also be helpful to have access to supporting materials for this information.

In January, the U.S. Department of Education released the new National Education Technology Plan. Developed by the Office of Educational Technology in cooperation with The American Institutes for Research, the International Society for Technology in Education, and the State Educational Technology Directors Association, this plan asks educators to look at how technology has transformed the world outside of schools and what needs to be done to refocus and realign classroom instruction to prepare today’s students for their future.

The full text of the new plan can be downloaded from the Web site at National Education Technology Plan. Supporting documentation is readily available on the site. You can access a PowerPoint overview that explains the driving forces behind the plan, student-produced video clips expressing their views on use of technology in education, and success stories from across the U.S. There are also two blogs where educators are invited to post their comments about the plan and about education technology policies over the last two decades.
