Potomac, MD (October 12, 2015) – MobyMax, innovator of personalized and blended learning curriculum for K-8 students, is helping Oak Heights Elementary School in Sweet Home, Oregon, to identify and fill the gaps in students’ skills as part of its Response to Intervention program.

“MobyMax is invaluable because it finds the holes in my students’ academic experience and fills them, contributing to a rock-solid foundation,” said Tim Swanson, a second-grade teacher who is also the school’s technology coach.

Oak Heights Elementary School students performing at the 40th percentile or below in reading or math received targeted intervention that helped them increase 1.58 grade levels after an average of 26 hours using MobyMax.

MobyMax is a completely integrated personalized and blended learning curriculum for K-8 students. It covers reading, writing, vocabulary, language, math, fact fluency, number sense, and science. The program automatically identifies students’ skill gaps with find-and-fix technology that targets instruction to each child’s needs.

“MobyMax helps teachers differentiate instruction based on the learning needs of each student,” said MobyMax co-founder Wade Willett. “The program automatically assigns lessons to students based on their skill level, ensuring that students practice the skills they need to work on without spending time on skills they’ve already mastered.”

Swanson uses MobyMax as part of a rotation in his classroom. “The students all get 40 minutes on MobyMax each day,” he said. “They get 20 minutes of reading and 20 minutes of math. They’re also required to complete 20 minutes of math homework on MobyMax every school night.”

The program’s dashboard allows teachers to monitor student progress in real time, so they know exactly how each child is doing. Teachers and administrators can search by student, class, school, or district to see which standards have been mastered and which have yet to be learned. In addition, a custom dedicated parent portal gives parents a window into their child’s progress, and teachers can set daily or long-term goals for their students to achieve.

“One of the most effective strategies for student growth is giving meaningful feedback and then having students set and achieve goals,” Swanson said. “As a teacher, I’m empowered to do that by the data that MobyMax provides. With the MobyMax dashboard, the data to drive instruction is close at hand.”

“Three years ago Oak Heights was paying $1400 for a Renaissance program that provided reading and comprehension intervention. However, it was not regulated or used consistently school-wide, and it didn't support math intervention,” said Oak Heights Elementary School Principal Courtney Murphy.

“At the time MobyMax was a program I had access to as both a parent and administrator in a prior district. The cost is $699 for a school subscription, which includes reading, writing, vocabulary, language, math, fact fluency, number sense, and science. Additionally, I really appreciated the customer service. The incentives came later, but are currently a big selling point.”
