Author Eric Jensen Partners With Scientific Learning to Share Expertise on Poverty, Teaching and Brain-Based Learning

A leading expert on poverty and learning, Dr. Eric Jensen is partnering with Scientific Learning Corp. to share practical, research-based strategies to help educators understand the unique challenges children with poverty face.

Oakland, Calif. — Dec. 15, 2015 — Eric Jensen, Ph.D., a celebrated author, speaker and leader in brain-based staff development, is teaming up with Scientific Learning Corp. (OTC PINK:SCIL) to share his expertise on the topics of poverty, teaching and brain-based learning. Scientific Learning is the maker of the neuroscience-based Fast ForWord® and Reading Assistant™ programs.

“The number one challenge for teachers and school administrators is teaching students affected by poverty,” said Jensen. “Through my work with Scientific Learning, my goal is to share practical, research-based strategies to help educators understand the unique challenges children from poverty face, the latest research in educational neuroscience, and practical classroom-ready applications that boost student learning. I’ve been very impressed by Scientific Learning’s work, particularly in using neuroscience-based language and reading interventions to close gaps between students who are economically disadvantaged and their higher-income peers.”

Through this partnership, Jensen will present at Scientific Learning events for K-12 administrators held throughout 2016-17, and lead webinars on issues related to leadership, poverty and brain-based strategies for student achievement. In addition, he will serve as an expert advisor for the Fast ForWord language and reading intervention, and provide input into its ongoing development and enhancement. Fast ForWord uses the principles of neuroplasticity — the ability of the brain to rewire and improve — to target the root causes of slow academic progress in struggling students and English language learners.

PASCO Scientific has a new president, Richard Escott.  He’s been with PASCO for three years and was responsible for the development and launch of its line of wireless sensors and lab tools.  He spent nearly 20 years in R&D and engineering leadership positions at Hewlett Packard.
