SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., March 18, 2016 – The accolades keep stacking up for Edthena, the venerable video coaching platform and toolset for collaborative professional development just as quickly as teachers can upload a video of their classroom instruction and share it with colleagues. For the second time in three months, the company has been honored with a noteworthy award. This time, Edthena was selected as a Cool Tool winner in the best professional development (PD) learning solution category in the 2016 EdTech Digest Awards program.
The Cool Tool awards are presented to the best new, emerging and established technology solutions for education. This year’s program featured dozen of categories in addition to the best PD learning solution, including best new product or services, academic gaming solutions, assessment programs, hardware products, leaders setting a trend and more.
“It's truly an honor to be recognized among our peers as having the best PD tools available on the market,” said Adam Geller, founder and CEO of Edthena. “This is a confirmation that 21st century professional development is job-embedded and uses videos of teachers actually teaching to help them understand how to grow in their craft.”
Launched in 2011, the Edthena platform helps schools and districts implement video coaching within a professional development process. Teachers easily and securely upload videos of classroom instruction from computers, tablets or smartphones and share with colleagues who provide time-stamped comments. Edthena also offers specialized collaboration tools to help organizations implement best practices for video learning.
A distinguished panel of industry influencers and veterans conducted this year’s evaluation proceedings.
"Shining a spotlight on the best and the brightest in the EdTech space reminds me of the tremendous paradigm shift our industry is experiencing. The evidence of technology’s transformative effect on matters of learning for students and educators, is so energizing,” said Victor Rivero, who oversees the program as Editor-in-Chief of EdTech Digest. “This year's program had some very stiff competition and hard decisions were made in selecting the winners. We're very proud to honor these cool tools, leaders and trendsetters in education technology.”
Named one of District Administration magazine's Readers’ Choice Top Products for 2015, in December, Edthena partners with schools, districts, university training programs, and even entire states like South Dakota, which uses Edthena to power a virtual coaching network for secondary math teachers.
