Cambridge, MA – March 22, 2016 – The accolades continue to stack up for Mimio, one of the world’s leading providers of interactive teaching technologies. The company was recently honored with a high-profile award for the third time in six months: its combination of the MimioMobile™ collaboration and assessment app with MimioStudio™ software was selected as a Cool Tool finalist in the 2016 EdTech Digest Awards program. The decidedly competitive awards program recognizes outstanding solutions and the best and brightest minds in the education and technology sector.
In October 2015, the MimioMobile app and MimioStudio classroom software learning solution was awarded the Best Upgraded Product designation in Tech & Learning magazine’s annual Awards of Excellence program. In December, K-12 leaders named the company’sMimioTeach™ interactive whiteboard to District Administration magazine’s “Readers’ Choice Top Products for 2015” for making a positive difference in education. In addition, the MimioPad™ wireless pen tablet and the MimioVote™ assessment device received honorable mention designations.
The most recent tribute, the Cool Tool award, is bestowed on the best new, emerging, and established technology solutions for education. This year’s program featured dozens of categories, including best new products or services, mobile (app) solutions, academic gaming solutions, emerging technologies, professional development solutions, leaders setting a trend, and more.
“It’s truly an honor to be recognized among our peers as having one of the best mobile app and software learning solutions in the education market for middle and high school students,” said Christopher Leonardo, Mimio president. “Offering relevant, innovative instructional solutions is our mission, and the judges clearly understand that incorporating mobile apps and software is one of the best ways to engage today’s digital natives in collaborative learning.”
The MimioMobile application fosters unrivaled student collaboration and student engagement by linking all types of mobile devices in classrooms, whether owned by the students or the school district. Once equipped with the app, almost any device ‒ including Chromebooks and Apple or Android products ‒ can work in concert for highly effective collaborative learning events as well as for formative assessment.
“The MimioMobile app is the first and only mobile device app that is part of a full interactive classroom solution enabling students to collaborate on the whiteboard from anywhere in the classroom,” added Christopher Leonardo. “We know that students benefit from more collaborative group instruction, and we believe our one-of-a-kind app and software combination encourages student participation and idea sharing while supporting the requirement of the Common Core State Standards for more student-centric learning environments. So it makes it even more special to have our solution recognized as a finalist in this distinguished program.”
EdTech Digest’s Editor-in-Chief Victor Rivero noted the “energizing” evidence of technology’s transformative effect on matters of learning for students and educators. “Shining a spotlight on the best and the brightest in the EdTech space reminds me of the tremendous paradigm shift our industry is experiencing,” he said. “This year’s program had some very stiff competition, and hard decisions were made in selecting the winners. We’re very proud to honor these cool tools, leaders, and trendsetters in education technology.”
