HOUSTON – April 15, 2016 – The 2016 EdTech Digest Awards Program has chosenSTEMscopes™ NGSS, a digital STEM curriculum for K-12 classrooms, as a Cool Tool Award finalist in the STEM Solution and the Parent/Student Solution categories. The EdTech Digest Awards recognize outstanding contributions in transforming education through technology. Featuring the best and brightest in edtech, the annual recognition program seeks to highlight and celebrate the most effective products and the most innovative, inspiring people.

Developed byAccelerate Learning™ and Rice University, STEMscopes NGSS is built from the ground up to address the Next Generation Science Standards. It provides teacher and student digital resources, supplemental print materials, and hands-on exploration kits that build student engagement and excitement for learning. As with all of Accelerate Learning’s STEM solutions, inquiry-based learning is at the core of STEMscopes. It fosters an understanding of science through meaningful hands-on inquiry-based investigations, so students develop a deeper understanding of the world around them.

“Teachers often tell us what a big impact STEMscopes has had on their students’ learning and engagement in science, and studies shows that students who use STEMscopes have higher passing rates on science assessments,” said Vernon Johnson, president and CEO of Accelerate Learning. “It’s very gratifying to know that our STEM solution is considered among the best in driving student inquiry and a passion for STEM.”

“This year’s program had some very stiff competition and hard decisions were made in selecting winners. The honorees here are among the best and brightest in the edtech space. Finalists and winners both represent an achievement. We’re proud to honor these cool tools, leaders, and trendsetters in education technology,” said Victor Rivero, who oversees the program as editor-in-chief of EdTech Digest
