Boston, MA – April 18, 2016 —Whether educators are striving for the goal of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) or competency-based learning or even standards-based learning, a key element for success is a high-quality curriculum management system. An increasing number of districts in the state of Indiana have been taking that principle to heart. In 2014, administrators in Wayne Township and Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (BCSC) opted for the dynamic curriculum management platform of itslearning as a vital element of their teaching and learning processes. Since then, districts in Evansville and Greensburg have also chosen the personalized learning management system (LMS).

“Last year, we created partnerships with 40 additional districts,” said Matt Dobosh, vice president of sales and marketing for itslearning. “All of them are committed to revolutionizing the way teaching and learning is done. And they aren’t alone. Worldwide, we have more than 7 million teachers, students and parents using itslearning as their single, end-to-end teaching and learning platform, and the number is increasing rapidly.”

Designed specifically for the K-12 sector, itslearning is a leading, cloud-based learning management system that helps teachers make education more inspiring and valuable for today’s students anytime, anywhere and on any device. As a student-centered learning environment, itslearning gives teachers, students and parents access, as appropriate, to course materials, assignments, communities for collaboration, professional development tools and student progress reports. The platform’s personalized dashboards give teachers a way to quickly and easily share instructional resources, assignments and activities, and assessments with students and parents.

“LMS are excellent at getting teachers and students on the same page, but only if those stakeholders are working with the same system,” said Mike Jamerson, director of technology for BCSC. “Up until last year, we were juggling numerous LMSs across grades K-12, so we were unable to achieve maximized synergies across those solutions. They were one-dimensional, and did not support our efforts towards our Universal Design for Learning (UDL) goals.”

That past experience made Jamerson even more appreciative of itslearning’s multi-faceted nature. The LMS includes in-built curriculum management capabilities and allows districts to plan, align and manage instructional assets from publishers, open educational resources and internal staff in one central library.

“This process not only saves time but it also promotes best practices by allowing the sharing of course templates, instructional resources, and planners across the district,” said Jamerson. “This ensures all teaching objects across our district are aligned, which enables teachers to accurately measure and compare student progress and performance. As a result, they can personalize their teaching by selecting resources that cater to their students’ differing needs.”

“itslearning is quickly becoming our learning hub,” said Michele Eaton, director of virtual and blended learning for Wayne Township. “We are now able to seamlessly combine our curriculum mapping processes with the student-learning environment. This new functionality will make it easier for teachers to plan, access district resources and enable a student-centered learning environment for all stakeholders.”

“Because it was developed specifically for K-12 classrooms, itslearning incorporates the streamlined curriculum management functionality that Wayne Township required, and it focuses on proven pedagogical strategies like UDL that drive student-centered learning in BCSC,” Dobosh concluded. “We are all about helping districts give the reins to students so they can take control of their learning and be engaged while doing so.”
