HOUSTON – April 20, 2016 – For the second consecutive year, the STEMscopes PreK-12 Suite from Accelerate Learning has been named a finalist in the SIIA Education CODiE Awards. The SIIA CODiE Awards are the premier awards for the software and information industries, and have been recognizing product excellence for 30 years.
The STEMscopes PreK-12 Suite comprises STEMscopes K-12, STEMscopes NGSS and STEMscopes Early Explorer. The suite is one of 160 CODiE finalists across 29 education technology categories, and one of only five finalists in the Best Science Instructional Solution category. Winners will be announced during a virtual award ceremony on May 18. The top honor of best overall educational product will be presented at Education Industry Symposium, the nation’s leading education technology conference, in Denver on July 26.
Developed by Accelerate Learning and Rice University, the STEMscopes PreK-12 Suite provides teacher and student digital resources, supplemental print materials, and hands-on exploration kits that build student engagement and excitement for learning. Inquiry-based learning is at the core of all STEMscopes products, allowing them to foster an understanding of science through meaningful hands-on inquiry-based investigations so students develop a deeper understanding of the world around them.
“To be recognized by such an esteemed program two years in a row is validation that STEMscopes is meeting the needs of PreK-12 schools to engage and prepare students to pursue higher learning and careers in STEM,” said Dr. Vernon Johnson, CEO for Accelerate Learning. “We attribute this success to our close collaboration with teachers to build and continually improve a digital science curriculum tool that meets their daily instructional and assessment needs. We likewise recognize and thank teachers for what they do everyday, because it’s the teachers who really make students’ career and college aspirations take flight.”
“Every year the list of CODiE finalists is a case study of how the ed tech industry is using new technologies in combination with knowledge about how people learn to respond to customer needs. They’re opening doors for learners of all ages,” said Karen Billings, vice president and managing director of ETIN, the Education Technology Industry Network of SIIA.
