Charlotte N.C. – May 12, 2016 – Assessment leader Apperson will host a free webinar at 2 p.m. EST, May 23, 2016 with experts from the Devereux Center for Resilient Children to discuss ways to improve the school-wide social climate through SEL strategies, partnerships and assessment.
The “Improving School-Wide Social Climate” webinar will feature Paul LeBuffe, director of the Devereux Center for Resilient Children, and Dr. Sheryl Harmer, an SEL consultant who spent 30-years in public education, including as a teacher and principal. LeBuffe and Harmer will provide education practitioners and leaders with examples of language, approaches and resources to implement a school- or district-wide SEL program – including the important roles parents, caregivers and communities play in improving school climate.
The webinar is part of Apperson’s ongoing work to support educators, administrators and out-of-school-time organizations in implementing social and emotional learning programs within their schools. Apperson offers an online assessment and intervention tool called Evo Social & Emotional to help educators measure students’ SEL skills and provide strategies for instruction and intervention. Evo SEL features the Devereux Student Strengths Assessment (the DESSA), a strengths-based assessment system designed to screen students for social and emotional competencies.
Webinar attendees will receive a free 60-day trial of Apperson’s Evo SEL featuring the DESSA.
