blended Program for K–5 Learners Supports Range of Technology in Today's Classrooms

GREENVILLE, Wis. – March 11, 2013 – EPS Literacy and Intervention, a division of School Specialty, and CSL Associates, Inc., today announced a new partnership to help students in grades K–5 master the Common Core State Standards for Math. With the addition of CSL Associates' MathCoach® Interactive to its offerings, EPS now offers schools online math solutions for young learners throughout the instructional spectrum, including screening and progress monitoring, core instruction, practice, and intervention.

Designed to help K–5 students master the Common Core, MathCoach offers a blend of instructional practices—explicit instruction, interactive lessons, games, virtual manipulatives, adaptive independent practice, and printable worksheets—so that students follow individual learning paths adapted to their learning needs and skill levels. In addition, MathCoach was designed around the Common Core topic progressions and developed to work on the range of technology available in today's classrooms, including interactive white boards, individual computers, and mobile devices. A free 14-day trial is available at http://mathcoachinteractive.com.

"MathCoach supports EPS' commitment to providing schools with digital solutions for effectively implementing the Common Core. It is the perfect complement to our comprehensive suite of math products," said Rick Holden, President, EPS Literacy and Intervention. "Now schools can turn to EPS for online math instructional solutions that will screen and monitor student progress, support instruction and intervention, and align to the Common Core."

The topic progressions in MathCoach develop the Common Core content across grade levels. Beginning with targeted, online assessments that pinpoint learning gaps, students delve into the program's interactive lessons that start with key ideas, present concepts step-by-step, and feature videos that engage with models and audio support. Engaging online games allow students to practice what they are learning. Student work is automatically scored and progress is reported to the program's integrated electronic grade book where teachers can plan, make assignments, and monitor student progress toward mastery anytime, anywhere.Students can also access the program from home.

"We developed MathCoach to provide a personalized path to help young students learn the skills and concepts delineated in the Common Core," said Christine Losq, founder of CSL Associates and creator of MathCoach. "With its trusted brands in schools and strong, well-respected math programs, EPS is the perfect partner to help us accelerate awareness and adoption of MathCoach in schools around the country."
