Lawrenceville, GA – March 1, 2017 BOXLIGHT Corporation, the leading interactive classroom technology provider, announced that its Labdisc portable STEM lab was named Best of Show by Tech & Learning magazine. The announcement was made as the conclusion of the 2017 TCEA conference and exhibition held earlier this month in Austin.

“Our Labdisc is revolutionizing science in terms of convenience, cost, portability and inquiry-based STEM learning in a real-world framework,” said Mark Elliott, Boxlight CEO. “What this means for educators is we are giving them a new pathway -- moving them away from a worksheet-driven classroom to one where their students are actually performing relatable science activities.”

The anonymous panel of educator judges rated their impressions on a sliding scale, evaluating everything from quality and effectiveness to ease of use and creative use of technology. They based the final decision on which technologies will have the most impact in the classroom.

Boxlight’s Labdisc is an all-in-one, complete lab that fits in the palm of your hand. It is the ONLY solution for K-12 science with up to 14 wireless sensors built into a single compact device measuring anything from sound and motion to air pressure and distance in four different versions covering either general science, physics, biochemistry or the environment.

The Labdisc sensors are best-in-class and the gold standard when comparing features such as display, keypad, memory and an extensive battery life against less robust competitors -- making stand-alone data collection possible and relevant.

The Boxlight Labdisc also includes unique features like the GPS probe, which harnesses GPS to plot sensor values as a layer over a Google map and it offers a robust battery that supplies over 150 hours of battery life. This helps students connect and engage with science anywhere. It also serves as an ideal solution for long-term experiments such as plant growth, weather change, and pollution

Elliott added, “We are so honored to be awarded this prestigious distinction by Tech & Learning magazine and humbled by the judges recognition of the impact our product will have on science teachers and their students -- strengthening our position as the leading provider of proven classroom technologies and STEM solutions.”

Boxlight Begins Offering Monthly STEM Lessons for Teachers

Lawrenceville, GA – Oct. 26, 2017 – Back in 2008, only three to four percent of K-12 science teachers were using sensors and data loggers in the classroom, according to the nonprofit educational research group Concord Consortium. While that percentage has increased over the past decade, many STEM teachers are still relatively new to the practice, and as a result, devising or finding activities involving those tools is often a challenge. To help fill this need, Boxlight is developing and releasing monthly STEM lessons, most of which will be centered around use of one or more of the 15 sensors embedded within the Labdisc portable STEM lab. The lessons are available at https://goo.gl/xAr2uv.
