CAMBRIDGE —Aug. 4, 2014 —Mimio, one of the world’s leading providers of interactive teaching technologies, announced today that its MimioConnect® online interactive teaching community has received the coveted eSchool News 2014-2015 Reader’s Choice Award. This annual program honors 50 of the best products and services in educational technology, as chosen by the publication’s readers.
MimioConnect has more than 206,000 users with a library of more than 13,000 interactive whiteboard lessons created by teachers, for teachers that cover most every subject across all grade levels. All of the ‘teacher tested’ lessons are free to download and most are aligned to state standards and the Common Core State Standards. To access the vast collection of lessons, teachers can go to www.mimioconnect.com.
“It is gratifying to know that eSchool News readers and panelists believe as strongly as we do in the value of giving teachers a website like MimioConnect, where teachers can collaborate, download, review, share and use lessons as they are or modify them for use with their interactive whiteboard activities and lesson plans,” said Mimio President Manny Perez.
More than 1,300 educators and administrators from K-12 schools and districts across North America nominated their favorite ed-tech products or services this past spring. To maintain the integrity of the program, nominations from vendors were not accepted. Nominating educators were asked to describe how they were using each product to improve teaching, learning, or school administration—and to what effect.
“The result is a list of ed-tech products and services that have proven to be effective,” said eSchool News Editorial Director Dennis Pierce. “We hope readers will find this information valuable as they consider what technologies they should use in their own schools.”
The complete MimioClassroom™ suite of interactive technologies is used in over 600,000 classrooms worldwide. In June, the company introduced the MimioDisplay™ LED touch display, rounding out its lineup of engaging products that includes the MimioTeach™ interactive technology device, which converts any dry erase board into a fully interactive whiteboard system; the MimioProjector™ interactive projector; the MimioView™ document camera; the MimioPad™ wireless pen tablet; and the MimioCapture™ ink recorder. The power behind these products is the award-winning MimioStudio™ classroom software, a single, intuitive program that runs Mimio hardware as well as interactive devices from other manufacturers. Last year, the company introduced its MimioMobile™ app, which allows classroom teachers to direct a fully collaborative learning environment by linking a range of devices such as Apple and Android tablets and smartphones equipped with the app.
The Reader’s Choice Award winners and honorable mentions are recognized in a special feature published in the August 2014 edition of eSchool News and on eSchoolNews.com.
