Lawrenceville, GA – Sept. 26, 2017 – As educators enter the early weeks of the new school year, they can look to Boxlight’s MimioConnect®website for thousands of free lesson plans and activities, many of them teacher-created. The lesson plans span the preK-12 curriculum and include world languages, history and social studies, reading and language arts, science, mathematics and much more.

“At Boxlight, we place a special emphasis on interactivity as do the teachers that come together and share their lessons at MimioConnect,” said Boxlight’s Vice President of Marketing and Communications, Sunshine Nance. “We understand that the vast selection of lessons that are uploaded are the ones that most effectively keep students engaged and actively learning. That’s just one of the benefits of MimioConnect; the lessons aren’t just designed to be interactive and collaborative, but they have also been tried and proven in real classrooms across the country and around the world.”

Each MimioConnect lesson has its own lesson page, which provides important information including a summary, the grade level and its author. Most pages also provide a preview of the lesson so that users can review it before downloading. Once it’s downloaded, users can customize it to suit their classroom needs.

“I can find everything I need to make the best use of any interactive technology I might have in my classroom, now and in the future,” said Paul Gigliotti, eighth grade social studies teacher at Parma Senior High School, Parma, Ohio.

“With the busy workload that many teachers face, I understand the temptation to fall back on the same old instruction methods we’ve always used, even when we have devices like touch boards, clickers or tablets,” Gigliotti continued. “But the same old approach wouldn’t be in the best interest of our students. So, I love that MimioConnect takes away a lot of the pressure involved in upgrading lessons for increased interactivity and student collaboration.”

“The free content available to educators on the site continues to grow each day because MimioConnect members like to share their ideas, knowledge and lessons with other teachers,” said Nance. In addition, Boxlight is releasing monthly STEM lessons, most of which will be centered around use of the Labdisc portable STEM lab. Those monthly lessons are available at https://goo.gl/xAr2uv.

Additionally, MimioConnect users have access to monthly calendar and morning meeting packs, which are content bundles that contain lessons, activities and other materials – such as attendance chart, daily graphing activity and calendars for scheduling practice and reinforcement of skills – that support instruction for that particular month

Boxlight Begins Offering Monthly STEM Lessons for Teachers

Lawrenceville, GA – Oct. 26, 2017 – Back in 2008, only three to four percent of K-12 science teachers were using sensors and data loggers in the classroom, according to the nonprofit educational research group Concord Consortium. While that percentage has increased over the past decade, many STEM teachers are still relatively new to the practice, and as a result, devising or finding activities involving those tools is often a challenge. To help fill this need, Boxlight is developing and releasing monthly STEM lessons, most of which will be centered around use of one or more of the 15 sensors embedded within the Labdisc portable STEM lab. The lessons are available at https://goo.gl/xAr2uv.
