NEW YORK — Nov. 13, 2014 — Four digital solutions fromPearson are winners in the 2014 “Tech & Learning” magazine Awards of Excellence. iLit, Pearson REALIZE, Q-interactive and the Virtual Nerd Mobile Math App are honored in this prestigious awards program recognizing K-12 technology products that break new ground, as well as those that have added significant enhancements to proven education tools.

The winning products will be featured in the December 2014 issue of “Tech & Learning” magazine, as well as on its website.

Honored for the second consecutive year, theiLit mobile app is a comprehensive digital literacy solution designed to produce two or more years of reading growth in an academic year for students in grades 4-10. The intervention program offers personalized learning support based on students’ instructional needs, with engaging interactivities and built-in reward systems that motivate and track progress. Based on a proven instructional model that has produced successful results for students in districts across the country for more than a decade, iLit has been carefully crafted to meet the rigors of the College and Career Readiness Standards and prepare students for new assessments.

Earning the Award of Excellence for New Products,Pearson REALIZE™, a new learning management system, is the online destination for standards-aligned content, flexible class management tools, and embedded assessments that deliver data to teachers instantly. Pearson REALIZE provides premium content to help teachers enhance their instructional materials. Teachers can search by keyword, browse by a table of contents, or browse by state and Common Core standards. It also enables teachers to use student performance and usage data to target instruction to improve student outcomes.

Also honored as a New Product,Q-interactive is an innovative digital system used to administer the types of one-on-one assessments typically given by psychologists and speech-language pathologists working in schools, clinics, hospitals, private practice and universities. Tests are administered via two iPads® connected with Bluetooth. One tablet is used by the professional and controls the second tablet, which belongs to the student. Q-interactive improves accuracy, reduces testing time, increases flexibility and allows for more personalized assessment through features including real-time scoring, audio recording, and on-the-fly editing of tests.

Virtual Nerd™ Mobile Math is honored in the New Products category as well. Virtual Nerd Mobile Math provides on-the-go access to a video library of more than 1,500 high-quality math tutorials. Available free on the App Store and coming soon for Android devices, Virtual Nerd Mobile Math’s illustrated, interactive tutorials help middle and high school students review fundamental math concepts. The app is easy to navigate, allowing students, parents and teachers to access math refreshers at the tap of a finger on their smartphone or tablet. Organized by topic and standard, the app’s tutorials are aligned to the Common Core and other rigorous standards, as well as Pearson’s secondary math programs.
