Pearson and Partners Deliver Integrated Solutions for Schools to Millions of Teachers, Administrators, Students and Parents

NEW YORK – June 19, 2014 – Today Pearson announced that more than 100 education technology companies have joined its independent software vendors (ISV) program. Through the ISV program, Pearson and its partners collaborate with the K-12 education community to simplify school administration and accelerate student learning. As a result of these ISV partnerships, Pearson’s PowerSchool, the most widely used web-based student information system (SIS), integrates with software for activities such as special education; online registration data analytics; health and immunization management; college and career planning; cafeteria and transportation management; and parental and student engagement.

The PowerSchool ISV Partner program promotes the delivery of comprehensive solutions that support the everyday student data management requirements of a classroom, school, district or state. Eligible partners must offer critical, efficient solutions that maximize PowerSchool’s support of teaching and learning. In support of its ISV program, Pearson makes a deep investment of support for the partner companies as they integrate their solutions with PowerSchool as well resources to help share their stories with school districts nationwide. With application programming interface (API) tools provided by Pearson, PowerSchool can easily be integrated with many software applications to create cost-effective and efficient approaches for school districts.

Overseeing the ISV program is Pearson vice president Oliver Wreford who said, “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with world-class education technology companies to support the unique needs of K-12 districts. Our partnership program provides school leaders with choice and their users with a better experience. Our customers utilize PowerSchool to streamline administrative functions and leverage our partners’ connected solutions for many other school processes that require integration with the student information system.”

For example, SchoolMessenger, a long time PowerSchool ISV partner, is the notification service used by more than 700 PowerSchool districts representing over three million shared students - more than any other notification provider. SchoolMessenger allows school districts to easily select and reach targeted groups of parents and staff without ever leaving their PowerSchool environment.

“Our partnership with Pearson has enabled SchoolMessenger to more effectively serve the hundreds of districts that rely on PowerSchool and SchoolMessenger respectively to manage student information and communications,” said Nate Brogan, SchoolMessenger senior vice president of marketing and customer engagement. “We have worked with Pearson for many years to provide a fully integrated solution to school districts. This partnership is beneficial to our customers since the seamless integration of the two products, PowerSchool and SchoolMessenger, has been fully tested by both companies and provides the district with improved performance, streamlined implementation and better overall support.”

One of the newest partners in the PowerSchool ISV program is Parchment, a leading technology company that facilitates online request, collection, sharing, delivery, and promotion of verified academic and professional credentials. As a result of this ISV partnership, PowerSchool will connect with Parchment to ensure that transcripts follow students when transferring schools or applying for college.

“Pearson's PowerSchool student information systems are widely used by Parchment members, so we are excited to be strategically positioned to allow easy and secure access to transcripts within the Pearson platform,” said Matthew Pittinsky, CEO of Parchment. “The alliance with Pearson allows districts to offer an enhanced user experience in delivering secondary school e-transcripts.”
