With a growing number of high schools and colleges joining Docufide by Parchment network, company on pace this year to once again double volume of transcript credentials delivered

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (Sept. 20, 2012) – Driven by an expanding network of secondary and postsecondary education providers, Docufide® by Parchment™ has now exchanged more than 4 million electronic transcripts (e-Transcripts). The industry-leading e-Transcript exchange network doubled the volume of e-Transcripts delivered in each of the past four years, and year-over-year growth is expected to double again in 2012. Institutions tapped Docufide to exchange nearly 1 million transcripts through the first six months of this year alone.

More than 30 percent of American high schools now deliver transcript credentials through the Docufide by Parchment network, which enables high schools to electronically transmit student transcripts and data to higher education institutions to support student progression. At the same time, more than 1,700 colleges and universities use Docufide Receiver – with an increasing number of higher education institutions sending e-Transcripts via Docufide as well. Registrations have been on the rise as schools look to replace the labor- and-time-intensive processes associated with preparing and sending paper transcripts and overcome the fundamental challenge of fragmented data – all while providing students with a more convenient and higher-quality experience during the admissions process.

“While not often discussed, there has been a revolution in which transcripts have shifted from being printed and mailed, then opened and scanned – to being exchanged electronically,” said Matthew Pittinsky, Parchment CEO. “There aren’t many other technologies that have been adopted by more than 30 percent of U.S. high schools in such a short timeframe without people talking about it. That’s why we call this a ‘quiet revolution,’ one that is fundamentally changing how education institutions talk to each other. At a time of greater student mobility, this new education data backbone is critical.”

Faced with budget cuts and higher costs, academic institutions are seeking new ways to increase operational efficiency. Beyond operational efficiencies, Docufide enables colleges to unlock the critical data that transcripts embody to understand what individual students know and how well they know it. Each exchange on the network informs powerful analytics around trading partner dynamics, which colleges can use to make better informed decisions that impact admissions, student placement in academic programs, retention, and completion.

Accelerated e-Transcript Volume and Network Membership Drives Strong First-Quarter Growth for Parchment

More than 65 high schools and colleges, including Capella University and Pittsburgh Public Schools, have joined the growing e-transcript and student record exchange network through Docufide by Parchment in the first quarter of this year to increase operational efficiency and save potentially millions in paper, postage and labor costs. Parchment, which doubled e-transcript volume in 2011 to 1.6 million, reports that the volume of e-transcripts exchanged through its industry-leading platform in first quarter of this year is nearly doubled over the same quarter last year. The rapid growth is an indication of the heightened demand for digital academic records as a stepping stone to academic analytics, with credentials data as a key factor in the equation.

Pennsylvania Selects Parchment for Statewide E-Transcript Initiative

E-transcript exchange among educational institutions across the country continues to expand, with Pennsylvania becoming the most recent state to offer a statewide system to its schools and students in support of broader preK-20 collaboration and improved academic outcomes. Pennsylvania is the seventh state to partner with Parchment and select the company's Docufide platform, the industry-leading e-transcript and student records exchange network. Pennsylvania received a federal grant to cover the start-up costs of the system for its more than 1,000 local education agencies and higher education institutions if they sign up by July 1, 2013.

Parchment Enhances its Industry-Leading e-Transcript Exchange Platform With Analytics Tools

On the heels of its acquisition of Avow Systems yesterday, Parchment is unveiling enhancements to its Docufide e-Transcript exchange platform and launching a new offering called Parchment Discover, which represents a new category of enrollment analytics. Using social graphing, Parchment Discover enables higher education officials to better identify prospective students, not only based on academic credentials, but also where similar students have applied, were accepted, and ultimately chose to enroll. The tool also helps students get noticed by colleges that may be a good fit for them by opting in when they use the free service, Parchment.com, which helps students request and send e-transcripts to colleges of their choice, gauge their college admissions chances and get college recommendations. New features in Docufide include a Dashboard that helps high school and college administrators see quick snapshots of transcript requests, delivery status, and volume, among other data.

Parchment Continues Strong Growth in Third Quarter as Schools and Universities Continue Movement to e-Transcripts

With schools and universities accelerating their adoption of e-Transcripts, Parchment continued its strong growth in the third quarter of 2012. More than 1,200 high schools and postsecondary institutions joined the Parchment e-Transcript exchange network between July and September, with 630 high schools and colleges selecting the company’s premium paid services, and 584 customers signing up for the company’s free basic sending or receiving services.

Parchment Merges Docufide with Avow Systems to Create Largest Electronic Transcript Network Linking Schools and Universities

Parchment has acquired Avow Systems, creating the largest e-Transcript exchange network for K-20 education institutions and other organizations at a time of rapid adoption in the market. Parchment has been doubling the volume of e-Transcript deliveries year-over-year, and now serves every major education segment: large four-year institutions, community colleges, professional education colleges, online schools, and K-12 schools and districts. The company also works with seven state departments of education. Increased cost pressure, rising student mobility and lackluster graduation rates in K-12 and higher education are driving a growing number of schools to implement e-Transcript solutions. Now individuals and schools can send secure PDF transcripts to any other institution or corporation to support students' academic progression, or if they are in the Docufide by Parchment network, send and receive XML data to support data-driven decision-making.
