Together, FundingFactory and Scholastic are launching a new green initiative to raise awareness about the importance of recycling e-waste.  To kick off FundingFactory’s green initiative, educators will have a chance to win $5,000 in the “Go Green” Sweepstakes, which can be used to improve their school’s environmental sustainability efforts or for other initiatives. Educators can visit the “Go Green” Sweepstakes website to enter, learn more about the importance of recycling, and discover ways to build community support for their school’s recycling fundraiser.

Educators can enter the “Go Green” Sweepstakes for a chance to win $5,000, which can be used for their school’s sustainability efforts

ERIE, Pa. (Nov. 8, 2012)— Research shows that “green” schools can reduce the $6 to $8 billion spent annually on energy by as much as 25 percent, according to the Center for Green Schools. To raise awareness about the importance of recycling e-waste and implementing “green” school initiatives, FundingFactory, together with Scholastic, the global children’s publishing, education and media company, have launched a new green initiative, which includes the “Go Green” Sweepstakes.* 

To kick off FundingFactory’s “green” initiative, educators will have a chance to win $5,000, which they can use to improve their school’s environmental sustainability efforts or for other initiatives. From now until March 1, 2013, educators can visit http://scholastic.com/fundingfactory and explain how they would use the money to support eco-friendly programs and practices at their school. 

FundingFactory, a 100-percent free fundraising-by-recycling program, enables participants to exchange e-waste for cash or points redeemable for new technology and other products. Educators can visit the “Go Green” Sweepstakes website to learn more about the importance of recycling, and discover ways to build community support for their school’s recycling fundraiser.

FundingFactory Announces Second Annual ‘Recycling Rumble’ Winners

FundingFactory, the nation’s largest fundraising by recycling program for schools and nonprofits, announces the winners of the second annual ‘Recycling Rumble’. 537 winning schools and nonprofits overcame their opponents in each rumble match-up where they competed for two months to recycle the largest quantity of electronic waste (e-waste). The winning schools and nonprofits earned a 25 percent fundraising bonus, and the top recycler overall won an Apple® iPad®. This year’s top recycler was Manteca High School of Manteca, Calif., recycling 6,535 items and earning more than $3,200. In total, Recycling Rumble participants raised $148,305 and recycled a total of 217,524 items.

FundingFactory Announces Winners of ‘Recycling Rumble’

More than 1,144 total schools and nonprofits nationwide contended for the Top Recycler title in FundingFactory’s “Recycling Rumble” competition from March 13 to May 31.  The winning schools and nonprofits earned a 25 percent fundraising bonus, while the top recycler, Panhandle Humane Society of Scottsbluff, Neb. won a new Apple® iPad®. Throughout the competition, participants collected and shipped used inkjet and toner cartridges, cell phones, MP3 players, digital cameras and GPS devices to FundingFactory, earning one point for each qualifying item redeemable for cash or new technology.

FundingFactory Participants Collect Nearly 300,000 Recyclables in ‘Care2Collect Just 1’ Campaign

FundingFactory participants collected nearly 300,000 recyclables through the ‘Care2Collect Just 1’ campaign in November. The nation’s largest fundraising by recycling program pledged to donate $1 for every 100 qualifying recyclables it received, raising $3,000 to support the Second Harvest Food Bank. During the campaign, participants were encouraged to simply recycle one e-waste item, such as a printer cartridge or cell phone, through FundingFactory, and donate one non-perishable food item to their local food bank.
