MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Dec. 4, 2012 – Capstone Digital, developer of personalized literacy environments for students, announces their myON™ reader platform will be augmented with the addition of 46 titles from Hachette Book Group’s Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, publisher of bestselling picture books, fiction, and nonfiction for middle grade and young adult readers.

The newly added picture books include cherished stories from beloved authors/illustrators such as Marc Brown’s If All the Animals Came Inside, Holly Hobbie’s Toot & Puddle and Todd Parr’s Otto Goes to School. The middle grade and young adult titles range from new literary classics to blockbuster bestsellers that kids and teens will be begging to read. The middle-grade list features favorites like Pseudonymous Bosch’s The Name of This Book is Secret, Grace Lin’s Newbery Honor winning Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, and Trenton Lee Stewart’s bestselling The Mysterious Benedict Society. Finally, the young-adult selections feature National Book Award winner The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie, as well as Ship Breaker by Paolo Bacigalupi and Story of a Girl by Sara Zarr, which are both National Book Award finalists.

Little, Brown Books for Young Readers joins other publishers recently added to the myON reader Publishers Program including Dorling Kindersley, Saddleback, Reference Point Press, Teacher Created Materials, August House, Mikaya Press, and Rourke Publishing, among many others.

Each title added to the myON platform goes through a rigorous process to be converted into an interactive digital book. Based on age-appropriate material and through a proprietary engine, Capstone Digital publishes each digital book with the same design as its printed counterpart, along with added reading supports. All books are aligned with The Lexile® Framework for Reading and feature end-of-book quizzes to assess reading comprehension.

“Through our rapidly expanding Publishers Program, myON reader has the largest integrated library of digital books with multimedia supports. myON reader is helping readers strengthen their core reading skills by pairing them up with books that meet their interests and Lexile® levels and by providing more opportunities for them to engage in reading through unlimited anytime, anywhere access,” said Todd Brekhus, president of Capstone Digital.

myON reader provides online access to more than 4,000 books with multimedia supports (embedded dictionary, highlighting and audio), customized to a student’s interest and reading ability as measured by The Lexile Framework for Reading. Accessible at school or home, the platform creates a collaborative reading environment where students, educators and parents work together to support student reading performance. Students also have access to a safe, social network where they can read, rate, review and recommend books to classmates.
