Mimio Begins Shipping the MimioBoard, the Next Generation in Fixed Interactive Whiteboards

New Design, Powered by MimioTeach Bar, Brings Greater Flexibility, Wireless Capability and Fresh Approach to Classroom Instruction
Publish date:

Cambridge, MA Dec. 13, 2012 – Mimio, developers of the MimioClassroom™ family of interactive teaching technologies, today announced that it is now delivering its new MimioBoard™to schools and districts. The fixed whiteboard solution, powered by the award-winning MimioTeach™ interactive technology bar, was first introduced to educators via a hands-on demonstration at the annual International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) conference and exposition.

Based on input from elementary and secondary educators using the MimioTeach bar, Mimio found a way to make a great tool even better and has delivered a contemporary interactive whiteboard design that can fulfill the needs of any school. Accordingly, the brand created an affordable, full-featured fixed solution that supports both wired and wireless operations and can be used as both an interactive whiteboard and a traditional dry erase board. In addition, the MimioBoard can be used with either short or long throw projectors, so schools and districts make the most of their existing projector inventory.

The MimioBoard comes equipped with the intuitive MimioStudio™ classroom software and integrates seamlessly with all MimioClassroom products including the MimioVote™ assessment, MimioView™ document camera, and MimioPad™ wireless pen tablet.

“Mimio’s mission is to provide hardware, software and lessons that turn classrooms into interactive and collaborative learning environments,” said Manny Perez, general manager, Mimio. “Since this new generation of interactive whiteboards works seamlessly with our family of products, teachers can expand their classroom technology without the need for additional training. They just take the board out of the box and get to work.”

The MimioBoard’s advanced product design has made it one of the lightest boards in the industry, reducing shipping expenses and making installation simpler. The durable ceramicsteel™ surface easily withstands the rigors of classroom activity. And while the board itself is a fixed installation, the interactive whiteboard component, the MimioTeach bar, can be detached and transferred to other classrooms in order to turn ordinary whiteboards into interactive whiteboards. Should servicing ever be required, only the MimioTeach bar would have to be shipped back, so the facilities department would not have to remove and pack an entire board and teachers would still have a functional dry-erase board during servicing.

Perez added, “We believe that educators, school administrators and technology directors will agree that the MimioBoard is the right tool at the right time – one that can both revolutionize teaching methods in the classroom while increasing student interest through compelling multimedia lessons. It’s all about transforming conventional classrooms into the interactive, 21st century digital classrooms that teachers and students need to excel.”
