Garnering Tens of Thousands of Views Around the World, Videos Offer Glimpse of Trends, Possibilities and Opportunities to Apply Technology in Personalized Ways
NEW YORK – May 13, 2014—Pearson’s “School of Thought” video series is a finalist in the 2014 Beacon Awards, presented by the PreK-12 Learning Group of the Association of American Publishers. The videos are honored in the Webinars, Podcasts and Videos category which recognize recordings created by an organization to build general awareness, encourage viewers to take a specific action, or promote a product or service.
Created by Drs. Jeff Borden and Rob Kadel of Pearson’s Research & Innovation Network, the videos portray a future for education that integrates technology into everyday life to make anytime, anywhere learning possible—learning that is personalized, connected and virtual. Through the eyes of learners, the “School of Thought” videos demonstrate how innovative connections among technology, educational psychology and cognitive neuroscience can change how we think about learning. Launched in July 2013, the video series has had tens of thousands of views from around the world.
Under the overall leadership of Kimberly O’Malley, Ph.D., each of the Research & Innovation Network centers has a distinct, yet related, research agenda, including:
• Improving learning and teaching using digital data;
• College and career success;
• Learning and assessment focused on student performance;
• Online learning; and
• Educator effectiveness.
The winners will be honored at the Beacon Awards Luncheon on June 4 in Washington, D.C. during Context in Content, the annual meeting for the learning resource industry.
