CDI Announces Winners of its “Holiday Wishes” Contest for Schools

Chicago IL – Jan. 23, 2018 – CDI Computer Dealers today announced the winners of its Holiday Wishes contest for schools. It will grant the technology wishes (up to $1000) of three schools in the U.S. and three schools in Canada.

The winning schools in the U.S. are:

· Great Lakes Academy, a K-12 private school in Plano, Texas, which wished for a Wi-Fi package and Chromebooks.

· The Martin County School District, a K-12 public school district in Stuart, Florida, which wished for Magellan devices so it could provide the Google Expeditions VR experience to students who don’t have mobile phones to use in class.

· Macomb Academy, a special education school in Michigan serving students ages 18 to 26. It wished for tablets so it could better track student information and support students at their job sites.

The winning schools in Canada are:

· School District No. 83 North Okanagan Shuswap, a K-12 school district in British Columbia. Its wish-written in the form of a holiday poem was for additional Chromebooks, tablets or laptops for students.

· Portage la Prairie School Division, a K-12 school district in Manitoba, which asked for Chromebooks with cases printed with the district logo.

· The Northwest School Division, a K-12 school district in Saskatchewan, which asked for Chromebooks and additional Wi-Fi connections.

In December, schools and districts were invited to share their technology wishes with CDI for a chance to have CDI’s “Tech Genie” make their wish come true. The submissions poured in. Wishes ranged from equipment such as charging carts, Chromebooks and headphones, to requests for an entire biology lab, a pinball machine for students to dismantle and rebuild, and a set of drones. Some teachers wrote jingles or poems to make their case. CDI used an online random generator to select the winners. Awarded prizes are valued at up to $1,000 each.

“We launched this contest to help more schools and districts reach their technology goals and we were impressed by the number of wishes we received, as well as the variety and creativity of the requests” said Saar Pikar, CEO of CDI. “There were so many worthy entries and we wish we could have granted them all. We’re honored to announce the winning schools and districts and we are looking forward to partnering with them to make their technology wishes come true.”
