What it does: Each of these circuit boards work as an intact unit, or can be snapped apart for flexible engineering. Once snapped apart, user will need to use copper tape, conductive thread or another conductive component to complete the circuit. Use them to “lectrify” all types of projects, including LEGO builds, wearables, and crafts projects, just to name a few. They are a great way to teach basic circuitry. The Shake It board contains a battery holder with on/off switch and battery, and a vibrating motor component. Use the Shake It components to make your projects dance! Each Shake It Pack comes with 15 boards, wooden legs, straws, googly eyes and extra batteries. The Light It board contains a battery holder with on/off switch and battery, two LED light components, and a Tilt Switch. The tilt switch acts as a switch, opening and closing the circuit depending on how it is tilted. Each Light It Pack comes with 15 boards, copper tape, conductive thread, and extra batteries. Use the Light It components to add light to your projects!
Ease of Use: Connection points are color coded to easily identify the positive and negative, and the connection points are large, making them easy for young makers.
Project Ideas: There are a number teacher guides, notes, and project ideas, as well as videos on the site for help and inspiration. They have also aligned the teaching materials with the NGSS Standards and the CS Framework.
Add ons: There are numerous products and kits available. The Sock Puppet and My First Robot kits come with everything you need to complete the fun and creative project. There are also soldering kits, such as NiteLight, Blinker, and TouchPad, as well as Bulk Packs and Classroom Packs (which strive to make the cost affordable, at around $2.50 per student).
