SIIA Releases 2016 Vision K-20 Professional Learning Educator Survey Report

The survey finds that educators from PreK-12 and higher education institutions most often enroll in courses that provide training for online software and digital resources and classroom management/behavior training.

The Education Technology Industry Network (ETIN) of SIIA releases the 2016 Vision K-20 Professional Learning Survey Report, its ninth annual national K-20 educator survey and its first survey focusing on online professional learning (PL). The survey finds that educators from PreK-12 and higher education institutions most often enroll in courses that provide training for online software and digital resources and classroom management/behavior training. 

Key findings from this year’s report about PreK-20 online professional learning:

  • Educators enroll in online PL courses when they are personally interested in the subject and want to increase their knowledge in that area.
  • The most common online PL courses that educators select are courses that providetraining for software and digital resources and classroom management/behaviortraining.
  • Educators with less than 20 years of experience working in an educational institution are more likely to enroll in an online PL course than educators with more experience.

WASHINGTON (March 17, 2016) –– The Education Technology Industry Network (ETIN) of the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) announces the launch of its 2016 Vision K-20 Professional Learning Survey. While past Vision K-20 Surveys provided educators, administrators and faculty members from K-12 and higher educational institutions the opportunity to evaluate their levels of technology integration across a number of educational technology applications, the 2016 survey is focused entirely on online professional learning.

SIIA Releases 2015 Vision K-20 Educator Survey Report

Washington, DC (June 30, 2015) – The Education Technology Industry Network (ETIN) of SIIA today released the 2015 Vision K-20 Survey Report, its eighth annual national survey measuring U.S. educational institutions’ self-reported progress toward technology and e-learning adoption. The findings were released at the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) conference. The survey finds that K-20 education institutions are making slow but steady progress toward reaching their instructional and operational goals through the use of technology, including increased use of student data.

The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) releases the 2014 Vision K-20 Survey Report, its seventh annual national survey measuring U.S. educational institutions’ self-reported progress toward building a framework that embraces technology and e-learning. The findings were presented at a press event during the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) conference. The report suggests that K-20 education institutions are striving for more digital educational goals, which are increasingly reached through Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policies.

Vision K-20 Survey Needs Responses

Educators, administrators and school leaders in K-12 and postsecondary institutions are invited to take a short, online benchmarking survey to check their organization's progress toward the Vision K-20, an initiative developed by the education members of the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA). The 2009 online survey closes June 15, 2009.
