Today's Newsletter: AV/IT Tips & Trends: A Report from AV/IT Summit

Last week, I had the pleasure of attending the AV/IT Summit in Denver, an event produced by our sister publication, AV Technology. The two-day program was packed with content. The opening keynote by Mike Walker of research giant Gartner presented a sneak peek of their 2017 “Hype Cycle for Emerging Technologies,” which analyzed the hype vs. the reality of trends like AI, VR, AR—even the likelihood that “digital twins” will soon be a reality. The rest of the program was a good mix of expert panels, networking through small-group discussions, and fast-paced “tech talks”—short, TED-style presentations that covered a wide range of topics, from designing for big data to next-gen video solutions to building more collaborative active learning classrooms. “The AV/IT Summit is leading the industry into a space where AV/IT is taken beyond just a conversation and put into real world implementations,” writes Alesia Hendley, Berry Center AV Operator of Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District in her follow-up report, found here. “If you're an AV/IT technology manager…you need to be on the look out for the next AV/IT Summit.” The next summit is planned for The Stewart Hotel, November 8-9, 2017, NYC.
