Today's Newsletter: School's Out? Not Really

Is summer vacation still a thing? There sure seem to be plenty of stories suggesting otherwise. In Lakewood, Minnesota , 25 students will get to spend summer school on the “Smart Bus,” a mobile learning lab, which will serve kindergartners to sixth-graders. Students also get district-issued iPads to use at home and keep until school starts. In Western Massachusetts, rising seniors are working in the Tech Foundry program, which prepares tech-savvy high schools for a career in IT. Even the bosses are getting into it. School officials in Georgia are playing intern for the summer in the Teachers in Industry program. All great ideas; I just hope they will work in some beach time too! —Kevin Hogan, Content Director
