ISTE Announces New Titles in The Flipped Learning Series

As thousands of teachers around the country celebrate “Flipped Day,” the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE®) announced the publication of three new titles in The Flipped Learning Series. Co-authored by flipped learning pioneers Jon Bergmann and Aaron Sams, Flipped Learning for English Instruction, Flipped Learning for Math InstructionandFlipped Learning for Social Studiesjoin Flipped Learning for Science Instruction in the series of guidebooks designed to support teachers as they infuse flipped learning and technology in specific subject areas.

Each professional learning resource offers practical guidance on lesson planning, what to do with class time and how the flipped model can work alongside learning through inquiry. They also explore instructional activities to foster student-driven learning specific to each subject area. For example, in Flipped Learning for Social Studies, one chapter delves into how teachers can maximize the additional class time made available by flipped learning to involve students in active learning through interactive social studies simulations. In Flipped Learning for English Instruction, the authors share strategies for teaching grammar and vocabulary in the flipped classroom, including how to use tech tools to flip grammar instruction. Flipped Learning for Math Instruction offers tips for integrating interactive math activities into the flipped classroom.
