Win a Lamp-Free Projector

Educators can enter Casio’s LampFree Projector Education Grant for a chance to win a Casio Ultra Short Throw projector (model: XJ-UT310WN), worth $2,000, for their school. One winner will be selected in each state for a total donation of approximately $100,000 in projector technology throughout the duration of the program. To be eligible for this grant, schools offer the opportunity for students to write essays discussing why mercury is harmful to the environment. Each school will then select the best essay to represent their school and submit it to the Casio’s LampFree Projector Grant Web site.

Inaugural Game-a-thon Challenges K-12 Students to Play with Math

The non-profit MIND Research Institute, developer of the game-based ST Math software, is sponsoring its first-ever Game-a-thon for K-12 students. The Game-a-thon challenges students to design, build, and share via YouTube, a game that features creative and unusual solutions to mathematical problems. Teams of two or more students, along with a teacher or parent in a coordinator role, can invent card games, board games, apps, outdoor games, or anything else that solves a mathematical problem. All participants receive prizes, and winners will be honored at a national math fair.

Chance to Win College Scholarships of Up to $100,000

Registration has opened for the 2014 Siemens Competition in Math, Science & Technology, administered by Discovery Education. Each year, the program invites high school students nationwide to submit original research projects in math, science, and technology for the opportunity to win college scholarships ranging from $1,000 up to $100,000. Students can compete as individuals or as members of a team.
