After an unforeseen budget crisis and the unexpected retirement of Shelbyville Community Unit School District #4 Superintendent Robert Verdun last year, the Shelbyville board hired two of its three building principals, Kevin Ross and Denise Bence, to serve as co-interim superintendents until a decision on a district leader could be made. In January, the board decided the arrangement was working out well and made the two administrators the official co-superintendents of the district.
