Simi Valley, CA, Feb. 6, 2018 – Impero Software, a leading provider of classroom management, network management and online safety software to schools, will host a panel discussion on digital citizenship this week at TCEA 2018 in Austin (booth 1955). Impero, which plans to open an office in Austin later this month, will also showcase the latest version of its award-winning product, Impero Education Pro during the conference this week.

“We are passionate about helping schools protect students online, and educate them about how to use technology responsibly,” said CEO Richard Fuller. “We are looking forward to discussing these important issues during our panel discussion.”

Impero Software’s panel discussion, “Creating a Holistic Culture of Digital Citizenship,” will take place at 2 p.m. CST Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018 in room 18D. In addition to Fuller, panelists include Digital Citizenship Institute CEO Marialice Curran and Dr. Mike Ribble, the Digital Citizenship Institute’s Chief Academic Officer. They will discuss how to combine digital citizenship, technology software, and best practices to create a holistic culture of digital citizenship in schools.

Impero Education Pro alerts instructors or administrators if it detects students typing or searching certain keywords or phrases related to sexting, cyberbullying, radicalization, self-harm and more. It also provides classroom management and anonymous reporting features, as well as tools to help schools and IT departments manage multiple devices. Impero also offers EdLink, a mobile device management tool to help schools manage one-to-one initiatives and BYOD programs.

“We will also showcase version 6.3 of our flagship product, Impero Education Pro in our booth #1955 during TCEA,” said Fuller. “V6.3 provides improved cloud functionality by offering a hybrid-cloud model designed to give our customers the best of both worlds depending on their preferences and requirements.”

New features of Impero Education Pro (v6.3) include:

· An intuitive ‘enterprise console’ using cloud technology to help technical teams quickly and easily apply settings to multiple servers. This new functionality is particularly beneficial for organizations that serve multiple school districts.

· A web-based teacher console, providing a simple interface designed with teachers in mind. This new functionality offers a range of classroom control features and the ability to monitor multiple devices from a single web browser.

· Automatic keyword library updates, if desired, giving schools instant access to the latest versions. Impero’s keyword library now includes over 20,000 keywords, abbreviations, phrases and URLs, developed with organizations such as Beat, the Anti-Bullying Alliance, and SafeBAE and using the Internet Watch Foundation’s illegal content list.

Impero’s prior work around digital citizenship includes partnering with advocacy organizations to produce white papers at the 2017 and 2016 Digital Citizenship Summits. It also released an Online Safety Handbook in 2017 which provides resources and best practices for schools that are using Impero Education Pro. It released a video in 2017 highlighting the dangers of bullying and sexting, and how online monitoring software can help schools detect problems before they escalate.
