Memorial Day...by Scott Meech

Today is Memorial Day in the United States. I hope you take some time to recognize those that have served your country. Regardless of your political stance on war and the different conflicts around the world, please remember that good people are in harms way. There are a number of traditional activities (YouTube Videos) taking place today to honor those that have served and those that have given the ultimate sacrifice. What are you doing today? How can we honor those that served? What are your schools doing to honor this holiday?

Here is an interesting project that we can all learn about and participate in "saving" history. This project has been around a long time.

The Veterans History Project of the American Folklife Center collects, preserves, and makes accessible the personal accounts of American war veterans so that future generations may hear directly from veterans and better understand the realities of war.

Do you know of some other projects for people to consider being a part of? Do you have some new ideas?

Finally, today is a day of rememberance, but the United States has not built a World War I memorial in Washington D.C. yet. Check out this gentleman's crusade to get this changed.
