With a new year come a new slew of district headaches regarding social media. The most prominent this week came when six Desert Vista High School (AZ) seniors posted a group hate selfie. And then there were the usual sundry school lockdowns and closings from Texas to Michigan to Missouri. It’s pretty clear that the misuse of social media can’t be stopped. It’s an unfortunate side effect of 21st century teaching and learning. But hopefully, with a combination of preventative measures and levelheaded management, the disruptions won’t have to be an everyday occurrence. —Kevin Hogan, Content Director.
