Another worrisome aspect in the current debate over net neutrality is what the Trump administration’s intentions are regarding school funding for Internet access. New analysis by the Alliance for Excellent Education and Funds for Learning reports that more than 42,700 schools presently have access to Wi-Fi services thanks to the E-Rate program. In a letter sent this month to FCC Chairman Pei, almost two hundred district leaders advocate for the continuance of the program. While the net neutrality verdict won’t have an immediate or direct effect on schools, a repeal would certainly send up troubling signals.
