At ISTE 2011, the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) revealed preliminary results from its fourth annual Vision K-20 Survey, designed to help educators monitor their institution's progress at achieving the Vision for K-20. Based on 273 early responders, average scores for achieving the Vision's seven goals ranged from 55 to 66 percent for K-12 districts. The two benchmarks with the highest level of achievement included security tools to protect student data and privacy (85 vs 84 percent) and the availability of high-speed broadband access for robust communication, administrative and instructional needs (85 vs 84 percent). Final results will be released July 26. For more information, visit siia.net/visionk20.

SIIA also announced the availability of two new publications: Social Media Marketing in Education, in partnership with edWeb.net and MCH Strategic Data, and the Experts' Guide to the Postsecondary Market. The first shares results of an online survey developed to help benchmark companies' use of a social media marketing strategy, and the second provides a collection of articles highlighting business strategies, marketing and sales strategies, and best practices useful for those in the higher education publishing and technology industries. Both resources can be found at siia.net/estore.
