Study links learning gains with classroom technology

New research finds that technology-enhanced collaborative approaches to learning may lift student achievement by 16 percentile points.

For this latest report, researchers focused on the impact of Promethean’s interactive technology, specifically ActivExpression student response devices. Results suggest that students with academic standing in the 50th percentile can expect to move to the top third of the class with the use of Promethean’s suite of interactive technology.

Results showed positive effects on student academic achievement when teachers used ActivExpression along with other Promethean interactive tools, specifically to gather feedback from students using the text feature of the assessment tool. The findings suggest an additional increase in student achievement when students’ when these short written text responses stimulated greater student-to-student and student-to-teacher interactions.
