Today's Newsletter: Tablets in the Classroom, Pro and Con

The issue surrounding tablets in the classroom is still a popular topic on the the Tech&Learning newsfeed. The Socorro Independent School District in El Paso, TX recently handed out 2,500 to all of their teachers, librarians, and instructional coaches. Fresno Unified (CA) looks like it will be approved to spend $7.8 million on 15, 000 Asus tablets this year. And Miami-Dade is restarting their effort to deploy 100,000 devices by next year. Not everyone is enthused. Conservative columnist Michelle Malkin thinks tech in the classroom is nothing more than a corporate cash grab. And from the other end of the political spectrum, the Guardian newspaper questions their effectiveness. You can probably guess my opinion on the subject! —Kevin Hogan, Editorial Director
